We spent a good deal of time talking about gin with Gillian & Alistair during this pre-wedding session in Queen Street Gardens. We met them at the Royal Scot Club in the Newtown and whilst sitting in the lounge chatting they told us about their gin themed wedding. They had just secured the final bottle needed to complete their table centre pieces. We asked them if they’d had to drink all the gin in the bottles first but thankfully the answer was no, they’d had a few donations from family and friends to help out. It was a happy moment for them to finish off another part of the wedding planning so if felt right to celebrate with an excellent portrait session.
Queen Street Gardens
We went to Queen Street Gardens for their portraits to take advantage of the beautiful cherry tree amongst the rolling hills of the park. Walking around with them, chatting about their wedding plans, it was easy to forget that we were in the middle of a city. That’s the beauty of Queen Street Gardens. One thing we really wanted to capture was the peacefulness of the gardens and the playfulness of Gillian & Alistair. We all had fun working towards this goal, especially at the end when they were lying on the ground surrounded by petals. We very quickly forgot about the cold, wind and somewhat damp weather we had that day.
The session finished mid-afternoon. Gillian had a dress fitting to get to so as much as we wanted to hang out with them for the rest of the day, we had to say goodbye. The weather had picked up a bit so we went for a walk around the Newtown. After about half an hour we started to get peckish and after all that gin talk we were feeling a little thirsty so we went to Gin 71 on Charlotte St for afternoon tea – and a wee gin chaser!
