Kara and Michael’s plans for their wedding were fantastic. We were as excited as they were for the day to arrive. What could be more fun than a wedding in the countryside just outside Rome at Casali Santa Brigida?
We talked together before the day to make plans for their wedding photography. There is a lot of planning involved in photographing a wedding abroad and a lot of trust given to photographers who travels for weddings so we were delighted that Kara and Michael had asked us to photograph their day for them. It really helped having a pre-wedding session in Scotland too. The experience allowed us to work together to make sure that the photography in Italy would be perfect.
Kara and Michael chose Casali Santa Brigida for their wedding. A romantic farmhouse style venue with beautiful gardens and an orchard. They love Rome and were looking forward to getting married near a place they had enjoyed visiting over the years. It was a nice personal approach and made the wedding feel intimate and relaxed. When we finally saw the venue in real life it exceeded our expectations. It was absolutely beautiful. Tall old trees within manicured lawns and a stunning farmhouse as a backdrop to it all. We knew immediately that the photography here would be wonderful.
Their ceremony took place within the orchard onsite. This helped with the heat of the day. Temperatures were in the high 30s so the shade from the trees was very welcome. The ceremony was touching, personal and fun. Their celebrant was fantastic and very personable too.
After the ceremony we left the venue and travelled to the small fishing village of Anguillara Sabazia for a portrait session. Sinead and I had scouted out the location the previous day to make sure we got the best shots in the time we had available. During the session we were invited into the home of one of the local residents. They had a terrace garden overlooking lake Bracciano. It was a wonderful moment and an example of how nice the locals are in this area.
We returned to the venue to continue the celebrations with their guests. With the sun a little lower in the sky the temperature was now very comfortable. Their guests enjoyed Prosecco to the background of a four piece jazz band while Italian antipasti was served on the lawn.
Kara and Michael had given a lot of thought to the styling and decorations for the day too. Their wedding meal took place outside, under the trees. Their guests sat at long wooden tables, decorated with white flowers and eucalyptus leaves. It was a clean, classic look and suited their wedding perfectly.
By the evening we were in full fun mode. The disco started, the lights were romantic and the guests were in a dancing mood. This was a wonderful wedding to photograph and had a fantastic time with Kara and Michael.
Casali Santa Brigida is an exclusive use venue and perfect for a destination wedding. All the guests can stay on site and enjoy themselves without the hassle of travelling back and forth from hotels. It added an extra level of excitement to the wedding weekend.
The venue is just outside Rome, easily accessible by car. It’s right next to Lake Bracciano and surrounded but vineyards and the Italian countryside. Needless to say, the weather, food and drink is all fantastic too.
